Catha | Just Because

Whew, I've been a total blog slacker lately - but on the plus side my thesis is finally starting to take shape! Sure did take long enough...

So lets get right to it: Catha is a good friend of mine who asked me to take some pictures of her - we have been wanting to get some new shots for the longest time and it never worked out time wise, until now. So we went to a nearby castle, the same one where I shot Sandy last year. It's so pretty there, there are these awesome turquoise doors at the entrance gates, as well as beautiful grounds and of course my favorite giant doll house. Don't let the sun in these pictures fool you it was pretty freaking cold! But Catha was a trooper and I really love how these shots turned out!

Elli, Steffen and snow in Houston?!

So something completely crazy is happening right now - it is snowing in Houston, that's right snowing! This is totally crazy because for one, it has happened maybe 5 times in my 24 years, but what makes it even more crazy is that it is NOT snowing here in Germany. I mean, come on!!! Germany basically equals Siberia in my world - temperature wise that is but not this year. Its been cold sure, but it has not snowed yet... I find it all very odd, prolly has something to do with the fact that I am itching to do a fun couples shoot in the snow with a sled and scarves and hot cocoa... whew and i digress.

So I have finally gotten around to editing and watermarking the shots from Elli and Steffen's shoot, yes my best friends boyfriend has the same name as my boyfriend, yes it confusing, and they are so fun! We found this ah-mazing red wall and they rocked it out like super models :) Elli was nervous that Steffen would be nervous, but not at all. He totally worked it! Prepare for lots of pictures :)

The lens flare is kinda crazy but I just love it :)

{i am aware that fall is technically still here, but the german cold has robbed the trees of their beautiful coats}

Brittany & Janet | Just Because

You all know Janet from a few past posts, well when I was home she asked me if I would take some pictures of her and her good freind Brittany (aka Little Bit). Of course I said yes, especially when they said they wanted to do something with a Boho/ Vintage/ Runaways feel, because shoot I do love me a themed photo shoot! Unfortunately, by the time we got from Houston to Crosby all we had was about 30 minutes of light left. I kinda freaked out a little - barely any light, shooting with my new 50mm lens that I had never used and to top it off our first location was like a Motel 8 for mosquitos. I swear I had to edit about two mosquitos out of every picture and then later on,  the huge red mosquito bites :) But all in all we got some great, moody pictures true to the look we were going for!

So as I mentioned before, it was really getting dark fast  - this is what my amazing lens was able to do while shooting wide open:

The Runaways

Still looks to be fairly light outside, right? Well the pictures below show the reality of how dark it already was.

We did a little outfit change, took about 2 shots and promtly got kicked off the property. So I will leave you with a funny one we took on the way back to Brittany's house :)
